letters pay off
i'm the type of person who writes letters. i know a person who always wants to write letters to complain or get something their way but never does. and all i have to say is...letter writing pays off!
my problem with the lsac regarding the june '05 lsat has been resolved thanks to some crafty letter writing and a begging plea. they changed the test date although my test center had to change, too (now i have to drive up to the city). instead of rolling out of bed and having a 2 minute drive i going to have a 40-minute drive topped off with a parking crunch. oh well, i guess i could celebrate after the test. i find it odd that it's administered on a monday at 12:30 pm. ugh, why couldn't they have done saturday?! oh well, i won't complain since they didn't keep my $112, rather they charged me $29. believe me, i'm super happy about this.
anyways, back to letter writing...
when i lived downtown, there was this parking spot (in front of my complex) that was always available. according to the signs, it was usually okay to park there but people were scared off by the fact that it was "technically" a 10-minute zone. anyways, there was a loop hole in their signage and i took full adavantage of the gray zone since it was hard to find parking and the area was too shady to have to walk 5 blocks at night. this yielded me a dozen or so tickets but i was always willing to take the ticket for the spot because i knew a letter would get me off the hook- and it always did. my reason for parking there was that their signage was wrong and the cops ticketing me obviously didn't read the sign (well, the fine print) before they ticketed. i was parking there to prove a point but i guess the dept. of parking & transportation never noticed 12 tickets, 12 letters, and 12 waivers under my account history to put two and two together- that something might be wrong with the sign. ugh, anyways where am i going with this...
when in doubt, write a letter because they worst they can say is no (and they usually don't).
